Haran began his career in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Communications Corps (1974–1979), serving part of the time as an officer. His assignments included instructor at an officers’ course, regimental Deputy Communications Officer, and head of an independent communications unit.


From 1979 to 2010, Haran served at the Security Institute attached to the Prime Minister’s Office, ultimately becoming Head of the Technological-Operational Unit (equivalent to Brigadier General). He led a large and complex organization responsible for integrating innovative technologies into operational and intelligence needs, managing projects and resources in Israel and internationally.


Private-Sector Leadership


Following his government service, Haran transitioned to executive leadership in the private sector. He became General Manager of GPS Global, oversaw its merger with Track Group, and later served as Track Group’s General Manager. Since 2015, he has been President of TripleCyber, a company specializing in cybersecurity and operational resilience.

In parallel, Haran also pursued entrepreneurial activities, including co-ownership of the Hapoel Holon basketball team (2010–2013) and serving as a member of the Basketball Association management (2012–2014).
